Supplementary angles are those that add up to 180 degrees.

So - let the measure of the angle you have to find be x. Let the measure of its supplement be x - 44

x + (x-44) = 180

Therfore, 2x - 44 = 180
180 + 44 = 224
224 divided by 2 is 112.

Therefore x = 112 and this is the measure of the angle you were asked to find.

Call the angle "a".

> "supplement"

180 − a

> "is"

=

> "44 less than the measure of the angle"

a − 44

In other words:

180 − a = a − 44

Solve for "a".
