I'm starting to think Web Design isn't the right major for me...it stresses me out, I find it tedious and it confuses me a lot. I'm not sure I could be competitive in the field, what do others think an individual must possess to make it in this major/career?

What's your bliss darlin? It sounds like something creative is for you, but find what you enjoy... and follow it. There will always be glitches along the way, and tech stuff seems to be that for you. Get a tutor, or the like, and if it's really a drag, and you can't get through it, then assess your talents and start looking around some more. I know that sounds lame and perhaps trite, but it's not meant to be.

There are many skill sets involved in launching a major website. From UI, to designer, producer, developer, project manager, etc... If you are talking specifically about designing, you have to love to design. That's about it. If you don't feel you are a good enough designer or you don't enjoy the work, then think about other things you enjoy more. That's the most important thing to think about when choosing a career. Try getting advice from a professor you like.

You can be a graphics person for it. But not a producer or lead person or Market Manager. The most you can hope for is Art Director.

I can't understand what you're problems are though. Unless they're not teaching it right.

You don't need to know JAVA SCRIPT to do web work, but it's a nice idea to learn it.

my hubby is getting his bachelors in Graphic Arts, with web design it really helps if you are very creative, a good listener, and very knowledgeable with several different graphic programs.
For my hubby it comes natural however many in his class struggle with it, I suggest you talk to your guidance councilor about what you really like and which field would be better.
there are many different areas you can get into from advertising to resumes. hope you find the right niche.
