It's tough. REALLY tough. Because neediness is like an "addiction". -You're always craving another "hit" from someone ELSE- to keep you going. And THAT leaves you WIDE OPEN to being HURT over & over & over- again, until you FINALLY drum up the Inner Strength to DO something about it. You can BEGIN to stop being so "needy"- by looking within yourself- & depending on YOU. Stop letting others help you do things- Step forward & do them YOURSELF. Find someone who depends on YOU for once... and see how THAT feels. By becoming RESPONSIBLE to those around you, your OWN neediness will fade away........ :)

volunteer at a nursing home or hospital. the people around you who except you for you and the nice things you do will get you less needy, because the more you help others the more you are needed. every one wants to feel needed in one way or another. don't look for love, you don't need others approval on yourself. you can be the only judge on that because only you know what you are going though.after you are happy with yourself then look for love. find someone who loves you for you not your looks or money or superficial reasons. do on to others as you would want done on to you.

It may sound silly, but here's one thing you can do. You might be surprised at just how freeing it can be.

Are you ready?

Break a (relatively insignificant) rule.

For example, if your library forbids snacks, sneak in some M&Ms, and eat a few. Don't do it in an in-your-face sort of way. Just be subtle about it.

The purpose for this exercise is to show you that you do not require the "approval" of authority figures.

Make sense?

Best of luck to you,
~M~

NB: I am NOT advocating wanton law breaking. I'm talking about a small, subtle "rebellious" type of action.

Realizing your are needy is the first step. Now, just act like you are not, even if you still are, and eventually you will realize you don't need to be so needy and stop it.

faith in god is being needy to god. theres enough christians already so screw that. you just need to decide for yourself. when you are about to ask someone for approval- stop and think what reason do i need approval from them for. partially fault of teachers training kids to ask to raise their hands when they have the right answers or when they need to go to the rest room.

It could be due to a feeling of insecurity.
Try to have faith - in god, or in yourself or some one close to you.
Try meditation or prayer or believe in god or in your self.
Know who you are (Know thyself - Socrates).
You are what you are. If you have approval of yourself it should be adequate for happiness.
" I am what I am".
