We had a case where an employee was expressing anti capitalist views to fellow employees. This happened out of the office. However some rat informed the boss an that employee was fired. Is this justified?

This happened in Thailand and the boss is American.

Yes, that would get you fired from most jobs in a capitalist country. I would want my employees to believe in companies making profits.

Depends on your employment law in your state. If it is an "At Will" state, then the boss can fire you for anything. If the company is a publicly traded company and has a certain number of employees, then they would have needed to put you on probation, do a performance write up, give you so many days for a re-review and counseling.... too many variables to just answer yes or no.

If you're in the US, "employment at will" is the law and says that unless you have some kind of contract that says otherwise, you can be fired for any reason or no reason as long as it's not due to your membership in a protected class like gender, race or religion. You also have the right to quit at any time.

This happened out of the office off company time? Hear say in my opinion.

Happened in the office or out of the office and it WAS ON company time, I could see the employer taking some form of corrective action though not immediate termination.
