You should follow the news more closely before posing inane questions like that. That goes for most of the posters also. The generals there are operating one of the most cruel and brutal regimes in the world. Beating, arresting and killing unarmed, peaceful monks is an unspeakable act.

I don't know where your from, could care even less. When was the last time your country went into a hostile nation, and offered help to keep hostile forces from killing off the native populations, then was spit upon and, told to get out. It happens to us all the time.
I think we should do as some want, go back to a "Hands off" or "Isolationist Policy" just think, had that happen during WW2 you would have been saluting the Nazi flag by now....wouldn't you? haven't thought about that now, have you?
We could live in peace within our own borders and, to hell with you and, the rest of the world, close our borders down, to everyone. Put border posts all around our country and let you all stew in your own juices so, keep it up, the mud slinging.
The next time there's a mudslide, a hurricane, a tsunami or a Earthquake. Where are you going to get help from? huh? not us pal.
We have never been helped by another county save Canada and that's been damn little, they have to help or we'd cut them off from dumping their garbage here.
You and all the other countries in the world can really go to hell, why should we send our kids to die for you?

Explain to me what we're supposed to do, sit by as the world did in the 40's, and say nothing while peaceful protesters whose only infraction is to want to have a say in their own destiny get gunned down and vanished. I believe that it is and altruistic endeavor to stand up for the oppressed when it isn't necessarily the "popular" thing to do. As to the 2nd part of your misguided attempt at propaganda, I'd challenge you or any of the other America haters here to point out a specific account of our government being a violent oppressor of human rights around the world in the last 30 years.

Violent? Corrupt maybe, but I have never seen anyone in my community gunned down, beaten, and rounded up by the government for standing up for their basic human rights... The ones that I know of that were shot and/or killed were assaulting someone, raping someone, etc.

You you know us, we just love to sit around and whine about Myanmar. It's really because we have nothing better to do.

I haven't heard anybody whine about it or even discuss it. Most Americans don't care about what is going on elsewhere.

As a Buddhist, I have to wonder what gives you the moral certitude to criticise any group of people who oppose suffering.
