First find someone who needs one then apply. There are a lot of people who need personal assistance because of medical care reasons or the elderly.
One young man was in a wheel chair and his dad had carried for him for years but he need lifted to change chairs or anything so they hired a full time assistant for him. Nice for his dad not having to drive him to work or do all the lifting. His dad usually brought him to work anyhow.

You don't have to study to be a personal assistant. Why does it have to be someone famous? You may end up getting one of those roles but you would need to get some experience first. The role of a personal assistant ranges anywhere from a strong secretarial role to helping out someone who may be disabled to being a "runner". Visualise clearly what you would like to do and get references from as many people who think you are capable of the job. You may need to be able to drive. You could be the person who does all their shopping, runs their errands, books their travel, possibly "damage control" and also sees invitations to events that you will most likely not be attending. It isn't a fantasy like the programme "Ugly Betty". For someone who is "famous" you would need to have strong references and be able to be extremely confident, gracious and focussed in dealing with contacts - you would represent them. Yes, there may be "perks" to the job but don't kid yourself that you will reap the rewards of glamorous parties and endless fun - those things may happen but shouldn't be the motivation for wanting to do the job. You have to be focussed whilst there may be others having a good time around you. It is a job and carries quite a bit of weight depending on who you are working for. Also, YOU MUST BE ABLE TO KEEP A SECRET. That is a big one!!! If you end up getting a role as a PA in a junior type role and you have a big mouth and it gets around that you cannot be trusted, then you can pretty much kiss goodbye any chance of working in the higher echelons of the role. You have to be mature to do the role.
