It's not that we fear/hate Soros, it's the things he donates his money to that bother us, Moveon.org, MediaMatters. Why do you think that none of the top tier dem presidential candidates criticized Moveon's ad against Gen Patreaus? Soros is pumping money into their campaigns. Now, that is his right as an American citizen, but he doesn't have the right to smear people or tell blatant lies about them.
I understand that he grew up in Eastern Europe, but why does he want to make the US become like the country he escaped from?
He has his first amendment right to free speech, but don't conservatives also have a first amendment right to rebutt his accusations?
You are correct, the right has large financiers too, but, how many of them have said they will donate as much as it takes to ensure conservatives win.
EDIT:
Rupert Murdoch donated to Hillary's campaign. Not the repubs.

Because he funds smear operations like MediaMatters and Move.on. And he's filthy rich and said he would sacrifice it all to prevent Bush's reelection in 2004. He has a lot of power and he abuses it by funding whatever will bring the republican party down, whether it's shady or not.

Because he's a scum bag with a lust for power. Being a Leftist is the easiest way to controlling people. The funny thing is that a large percentage sell their souls willingly just to be "taken care of" from womb to tomb. Never have to make any choices on their own.

Do some serious research on MoveOn.Org and I doubt you would ask this question.
As a side note - the conservatives, for the most part, probably do hate George Soros - but, make no mistake - it's the democrats who fear him because of his influence and lack of financial support for candidates who don't agree with him or his agenda.

I'm glad that you mentioned Richard Mellon Scaife. Don't forget that the neocons also have Rupert Murdoch. Oh, well! I guess it's OK to be backed by billionaires only as long as you're a neocon, just like it's OK to criticize decorated soldiers as long as you're a neocon. The double standard continues!

GOPers like scapegoats. A face on what they hate allows them to get far more angry than they could about something a bit more intellectual - like an idea.
