Doc Marten boots and shoes were really popular (as a result of the punk movement that started in the 70's, which turned into the grunge movement in the 80's). Cowboy boots, lace up Granny boots, and pointy toed shoes with low kitten heels were popular too.

Adidas Superstars were the in thing among youths, made popular by Run DMC. Kids wear them with colorful laces. The Air Jordans were popular too, but not many could afford them.
