I want to get a Bachelors degree in international relations. Im just wondering if I will have to take math and if any of other majors require math ? do you receive grades like in high school ? what assignments do they give ? and how many different classes will you have to take if you are a full time student ?

It's very likely that every bachelor's degree will require at least one math class. Even as a music major studying flute performance, I had to take two math classes. It's just a part of what makes a bachelor's degree.

Some majors require more math than others. Sciences will as will Psychology (statistics). Some majors, like music and art, will require less math.

Don't worry - you'll do fine. Just take the lowest level math class you can apply to your degree. And, college classes are different than HS -- you just might like math in college.

Yes, you will receive grades like in HS but they may well be a little harder to get. One good thing though is that almost every professor will tell you exactly what you have to do to get an A.

A full time student load of 12-15 semester hours would be 4-5 classes. Classes generally meet for one hour, three days per week or for 1.5 hours two days per week.

Yes, you will probably have to take at least a college algebra class, unless you can place out of it (say you have AP calculus credit or something). You will likely have to take it for a letter grade. The assignments are typically homework, and you will be assessed by means of quizzes and tests. There are typically no "do-overs" like there are in high school, so you'll need to get things right the first time.

Full time students usually take 12 to 16 credit-hours. A credit-hour is an hour per week spent in class. You expect to spend 2 hours on homework for every hour in class, so 12 credit-hours is 12 hours a week in class and 24 hours a week of outside work.

As a math professor, I strongly advise you to take your required math class as soon as you possibly can. If you're scared to take a math class, don't put it off till your senior year, because then you'll be scared AND unprepared-- and if you flunk it, you won't graduate, so the stakes will be even higher. Better that you take it while you're fresh out of high school math (and have time to retake it if you fail) than try to refresh your memory after three years of no math whatsoever.

on your freshman year of college, you will still have to take basic classes like english, math, etc (all higher level of course). but you do not have to take them if you took AP classes during high school and passed the AP exam. and yes, you do get grades like in high school (you always will in college). most of the grade will consist of few exams and maybe , maybe..... some research paper.
