I bought them at a jewelry store for .99 ea. I remember a ladybug on one. It was the same time as the siamese twin jewelry was out too. Bracelets that were made of silver and rings, the background was greyish blue.

The pins were not hat pins. They were as long as a straight pin and had a single bug or other tiny single object on them.

There were green alligators and long necked geese,
some humpy back camels and chimpanzees,
there were cats, and rats, and elephants,
but sure as you're born.
there weren't such a thing as a unicorn.

Are you talking about HAT PINS? That's what comes to my mind! Those siamese things used to link together & get stuck. I still have tons of bracelets & bangles. I lost most of my rings. The greyish blue was abolony shell (I think)! Even the cheap jewelry was made better than most of the garbage in the high priced shops these days! I have boxes of broaches & pins that I just love to look at when I am bored. They are each so unique! Human hands actually put each piece together & that is what makes them so darned interesting.

Hat pins,of course.I used to always have one behind the lapel of my jacket. If a man got a little too friendly on a train or bus,I would jab him without anyone seeing. They always left me alone after that!

Yes , my mother n law saved some of them. Some are metal but some have little bakelite novelties on them. I'd forgotton
these existed until she showed them to me.
