I have almost everything else done, but I still don't have any particular place in mind.I was just hoping for some opinions on the best places you've lived. I'm 20, single, looking to start college sometime next year, and looking for a change. I'm leaving Arkansas, so about anything named will be more exciting. I have the opportunity to move to Vegas at no cost to myself, but I'm not sure if that's where I want to be, so any opinions on that would also be helpful. I don't have any particular region in mind, but I'd like to go somewhere with plenty going on, and that isn't too conservative. Otherwise, I'm open to just about anything.

Thanks in advance!!

If your liberal leaning - go to either coast. The north east (north of DC) will be the most liberal area of east coast. On the west coast any of California, Oregon or Washington. Outside of a few pockets here and there - most of the rest of the country is conservative.

I've lived in a lot of different parts of the US. Colorado, Arizona, Texas(briefly), western Washington, S. Cal, Indiana, Maine and currently New Hampshire.

If you want someplace with a lot going on, then you want to be in or very near a major city. Vegas has a lot going on, but I'm not sure it's the best place to go to college, maybe if you are a highly motivated student and can resist the temptation of the bright lights and glitz happening close by? Vegas is controlled by the all mighty $. Someplace I can get my fill of in about 72 hours.

Massachusetts principle industry is education. Lots of schools to pick from there. Probably the most liberal of all states, lots going on in the Boston metro area, which is anyplace inside of I495.

Chi-Town
If your looking for a big city with a lot going on that would be a good place to move to preferably the downtown area because it's more conservative not too conservative and it's not in the hood. You'll love it. The jobs are plentiful and we have some great colleges here, the people are friendly.
Good Luck1

I would advise you not to go to Vegas. My cousin went there thinking it was going to be easy to find a job and she could still party and go to school at the same. That didn't work. She ended up moving back home and quiting school because all she did was party. I hope if you do go you will do better than she did. If I could move anywhere to go to school, I would go to Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. I love it there. It is a nice, small, quiet town on the Susquehanna River. But that me, I don't like the big cities. I am a country girl.

I've read that one of the fastest growing places in the United States is Bend, Oregon (meaning job growth, young people, etc.). Check it out... http://www.ci.bend.or.us/
