in society it would be viewed as widely unethical. but each individual has their own view.
personally i think that a student and teacher who are both consenting adults should be left in peace provided that steps are taken to ensure that there are no conflicts of interests. e.g. if the student transfers to a different teacher there can be no question of favouritism.
in a situation outside of the teacher student relationship, it would not be frowned upon. for example, when i was 19 i was dating a 29 year old. no one saw this as strange or a bad thing and he was a lot older than at least one of my teachers at the time.

yes as it lowers the respect for each other the teacher is there to teach all of you and is paid by the goverment to do so and not there to distract and cause favouritism in the class it also effects what you learn if you must have a relationship best to leave it until you no longer attend the establishment you are being taught in,because you can be asked to leave and they could lose there career

Yes, and unlawful as well if the student is under 18. A teacher is a person of trust. Much like a priest. Parents must be able to trust that no harm will come to their children when entrusted to a teacher.

yes it is, It's simply considered a violation of trust, in the teachers case! The teacher is considered the adult, he has great influence over young impressionable minds, so for him to enter into a relationship with one of his students, would imply improper use of the power and influence he possesses!

Man and woman enter into relations or even sex.It is not based on student/teacher or master/servant considerations.Legality is decided on age of the persons and local rules.

A woman at my Uni dates her Professor and she normally gets lower marks than she used to. Favouritism is certainly not at play there.
I would date one of my Lecturers if given the chance he is lovely only a bit to young for me!
If it was at School/College (under 18 years) then I would say yes I dont think it is right. Over that go for it!!

Unethical yes, illegal no. Why? Because it endangers the relationship between teacher and pupil. The profession relies on ethics. Along with medicine, law and many others.

It's not only unethical, it's also illegal (criminal offense). Where I live it falls under the category of "sexual harrassment" with fine and imprisonment as imposable penalty.
