i need help simplifying this:

2/5(10x + 25) = -10 - 4(x +3)

first i distributed and got:
2x + 10 = -10 - 4x - 12
i combined like terms -10 & -12.
2x + 10 = -22 -4x
added 22 to each side then subtracted 2 from each side.
32 = -6x
and then i divided by -6.

the soultion i got is 5 1/3 but the answer is supposed to be -4. what did i do wrong?

Your overall process was correct. However, in your first step (when you distributed), you got 2x+10 on the left side when you were supposed to get 4x+10. (2/5)(10x) = 4x.

So the solution should be:
4x+10=-10-4x-12
8x= -32
x= -4

Hope that helps!

At your first step when you distributed the 2/5 on the left, you made a minor error.

2/5(10x + 25) = ...
(20/5)x + (50/5) = ...
4x + 10 = ...

Instead you had 2x + 10 = ...

If you follow the logic from there you get:
32 = -8x
x = -4
