I used to work for a couple for kids under Central Casting, but I wanted to register with them. Does anyone know how consistent they are with getting you jobs? 4-5 years ago, I would get calls about 2-3 times a week for different TV shows. How is it like now? Does anybody know their pay now for each show they call you for? And also, when you pay the $25 registration fee, does that INCLUDE the headshots? Thanks.

No the fee does not include the headshots, you bring your own or submit your own when you register. The non union base is about $55.00, although they may comp you if they use things like smoke. You have to call their hot-line to book yourself. Meaning you listen to what the show needs, and give Central a call to let them know you want to be on the show, this is where a good pic will come in. If the part calls for 18 to look younger and you are 18, but you pic makes you look older, then they may tell you don't look the type for the show. Also they don't normally call you directly unless, they are lacking enough people or they need someone that has a look the show is specifically looking for.

Things are slightly different since SEG and SAG merged. Under the new rules the first 12 extras have to be SAG on a TV show and after that they can be non-union.

Central Casting services both SAG and non-SAG extras.

I believe the pay is still the same $40-$50 base for non union, plus overtime and bumps

Union I believe is $100-125 plus over time and bumps

As I recall their registration fee incuded the head shot.

Because of the new rules the amount work may have dropped for non-union extras in most TV shows.

There is still a lot of feature work and most of the time they get around that by the company not be SAG but using a SAG sub-contractor so they can go entirely non-union extras.

There are still several other companies services non-union work mostly. I would strongly recommend you register with as many as you can.

I don't have all the details, but Central Casting is still the best way to get extra work. The pay gets better every year and it was my impression that they took a photo of you when your register.
