Hey Yahoo! Answers, I'm currently thinking of colleges I can go to since I'm in my Junior year of high school. Right now I'm looking into medical school, since I'm hoping to become a cardiothoracic surgeon one day. I have great grades and test well, so I know admissions won't be so much of an issue... It's just the location I'm concerned about. I'm looking to live somewhere in America during my college years, and preferably in a place with lots of snow. Nothing like Alaska though, I'm hoping for cool summer weather as well. I'd like to be somewhere with a lot of trees, and not TOO busy like New York City or other urban areas. Do you have any ideas where I might be happy living during my college life? I'm not too concerned with what school I go to; I just want to get some ideas of what areas I'd want to live in.

Well you should definitely visit a number of colleges. But here are some that sound like they may fill your interests.
Duke (NC), University of Richmond (VA), Colorado College, Vanderbilt (TENN.), Wash U (as previously stated), UVA, Pomona (CA), USC (CA), Berkley (CA), Wake Forest (NC), Boston College,Tufts (MA), George Washington U. (DC)
These are ideas and most are either on the west coast or not too far east except for BC in Boston. Honestly look up the schools and see if you like them, I am eager to here your thoughts. Also, if you do go to med. school, come to Houston, where the med. schools are a must.

If you want snow, then you want one in upstate NY. Syracuse, Colgate, Cornell are well know examples. There are numerous web sites that can help you narrow this down - CollegeBoard.com, princetonreview.com are both excellent resources.

I'm born and raised on Colorado, family still lives there - they don't get near as much snow as you think. If you want snow, no place in the US will top up state NY.

Sounds to me like Buffalo or Syracuse. I am from Pittsburgh and I know that the amount of snow that they get is outrageous. Also, Colorado, Utah, and parts of Nevada and California have great winters and summers. Not that I am trying to talk up Pittsburgh, but our winters are pretty heavy and our average temp in summer is 78 degrees.

It all depends what you enjoy doing. If you enjoy skiing, go to Colorado or Utah.

Have you looked into the University of Pittsburgh? My sister graduated with a BS Nursing. Excellent medical school.

You got it backwards. Decide on college and go where-ever that college is. Although you may be doing well in high-school, college is entirely different animal. If you are going to a medical college and choose a field such as cardiology, then you won't have any time to do anything else but to study.

I think you are being too self-confident and getting ahead of yourself.

Dude..why would you want to ask OTHERS where you should live. Shouldn't you be investigating this stuff for yourself so you know where you want to go? If you want snow, try Vermont or Maine...possibly Montana. You do not want to ask others because their perspectives will be completely different from yours. Look into universities that have a good program (that you want to get into) and go from there.
