Hmm.

1=1
2=2
...
3.1415=3.1415

I'd have to say "many".

Only one symbolic solution, but infinate actual values for x.

x=x and x can be any number. So the number of values that satisfy this equation is equal to the variation of numbers in which x can represent.

Not only can x be a real number, it can also be imaginary numbers, scaler, vector, or even a matrix. (if you know what they are...) Heck, it doesn't even have to be numbers.

You can even let x equal to "panda" or "pizza", or even "sushi" and it will still equal to each other.

You can also let x equal to variables such as Y or Z and they will still equal.

The only thing you can't let x euqal to is infinity or negative infinity, since infinity can never equal to anything including itself.

I am going to revisit this issue. I think the "correct" answer depends on the exact wording of your problem and the level of math you are currently studying.

You can say, it is one solution because x=x and it is a single expression. It's just that X can be any number or even non-numbers.

You can also say, it has many or infinate solutions because you can substitute x with anything (other than infinity) and let it be true.

One thing it cannot be is "no solution".... there is one solution already, x=x.

Many solutions, because x could be anything. There are no limitations

x - x = 0
0 = 0

one solution.
