Do you know how to communicate with your State Representative and your State Senator (names, mailing addresses or online addies) to register your preference on today's issues?

I want my Congressional rep to truly represent my vote in some very strong feelings I have about today's issues.
Have you ever written your Congress Reps? I'm going to start and wondered about any of you.

Yes I do know who they are, and I have written to them on many occasions. I feel it is important to not only cast my vote, but to let the elected officials know what issues I feel most strongly about and why.

Yes. I know all of them. My State Member of the Assembly is Kathy McLain. I got an e-mail from her just the other day. My State Senator is Bill O'Donnell. I have a correspondence file about five inches thick that contains exchanges that have been made between several Members of the House and the Senate and me.
Some of these elected officials do ask me for my feelings about different issues. But, in many cases, the questions they pose take on the form of "push poll" questions where one is led into agreeing with some pre-formed result. And that sort of behavior comes from both sides of the aisle. Believe me, the fastest way to ensure that the offiicial you are writing to will only respond in a terse, non-committal fashion is when you don't agree with that official on some position.

I know who my senators are. One is an idiot and the other is planning to retire and probably will be replaced by a former governor who has already duped the people once. I'm not sure about my representative. I'll know when I get to the polls. It seems we have elections every six months in Virginia, and already I'm bored to tears with the presidential wannabes.

go through their website to write them. And do it through snail mail there is a political theory for every phone call X amount of people feel the same way and the most number of people are repersented through mail. You won't get a personalized letter back though but someone will be taking note. Also talking to sentors and repersentives is good way to get your message across but there are also groups and active committees that do a lot to get bills and other actions done to support your cause and you could do a lot for yourself and for the cause by getting invovled.

Yes I do. I recently called two of them with a problem on my part D payments. I was paying privately and SS was still taking payments from my check. This went on from Jan until Aug. After cont acing my reps it was cleared up almost immediately. I received 8 months of payments back from SS.

Yes, I do and very recently contacted all my state representatives and those in the US Congress - house and senate regarding immigration issues.

I've always been politcally active and vocal and for me, that is part of my role in a so-called democracy...;-)

No...but the Congressman for Tn is from my home town and used to be my boyfriend. for a short time in high school. .He was shy and so sweet and so cute. Still is cute. found him on the internet...he was giving a speech and talking ...loud.!!!..lol...what happened to his shyness??? He also is a kinda "movie /tv star". When Michael Moore did his movie and talked to some of the congressmen etc. outside the capital...he was one of them and said his name. He said,"Hi Michael, I'm John Tanner from Tennessee" I was so proud of him...his first "part" and he had a "starring " role !!!. lol (He was a star to me, anyway) They also showed him on tv a lot during that time I always smile when I think of him. Just hope politics didn't change him too much. So if he ever runs for President...please vote for him. lol
