I need help with this science project! I need to make a edible ANIMAL cell:
"Design and build a model of a animal cell with an identification key. All models must be made out of EDIBLE materials that will remain fresh atleast three days WITHOUT refrigeration. Avoid using materials that have an unpleasent odor or that may be considered offensive!"
Required Structures:
Nucleus
Ribosomes
Mitochondria

I can't give you exact instructions for this, because I took biology so long ago that I don't remember the shapes of most of these cellular parts, but I suggest you take a trip to a large grocery store and look in the pasta section (many, many different morphologies available) [I presume that uncooked pasta is OK in that it could be made edible]. Also, look in the candy section (the part where the bags of numerous kinds of hard candy hanging there; many shapes an' sizes. Also other items like fruit rollups, nerds, corn syrup, licorice, ribbon candy etc might make good components. There are also all those "gummy" candies (bears, worms, jujubees, Sweedish fish, and the fake candied fruit sections etc. It doesn't say whether or not it is allowed to cut large food items to new shapes, but it's a possibility (you might have to check the rule book on this!) I think you could use red or pink kidney beans (dry) for the mitocondria. Also check the section that has cake/cookie decorations too.

how to create an animal cell out of snacks:

nucleus: mega m&m (the peanut ones will work)
ribosomes: anything circular like skittles
mitochondria: any oval candy
endoplasmic reticulum: something long like tweezers
golgi bodies: bulky or strangely formed candy
cytoplasm: use a cracker or matzo...something that won't rot and is big and flat
cell mebrane: pretzel sticks
vacuoles: chips
lysosomes: lifesavers

Colored dough?

Dye and shape each part independently then put them together and air dry them?

This may not work tho if its very humid where you live?
