I am a firm believer of putting it on the line here...pics of ourselves , not cartoon characters. I refuse to hide behind a cartoon of muself. it is me out there, I sing my own name...if poeple take the time to read my ramblings they deserve to see who they are coming from. Phil

It makes some difference. A week or two ago, on R+S, they played the avatar game...describe about the person ahead of you. I think a lot were right, so I use this as a basis for my answer. I couldn't get gray, thinning hair, so I picked this because I have an outfit like this.

I look at the questions and if I think I have nothing to offer, I move to the next one .I don.t like just showing up for points with nothing to say. The avatars are not who we are unless someone has a photo that was taken recently. I haven't figured that trick out yet.

My avatar needs some grey streaks in the top and sides and I cant get that. The short brown- red hair with glasses looks a lot like me. I think I look too young in it though.

I've wondered too how much people pay attention to them. Since it is all we 'see' of the other person, it does help to imagine what they might look like. I like to feel as if I'm sitting there talking to someone. I've updated mine with shorter hair, maybe when they get the bugs out it will show up.

I read a question in here one day asking if guys fall for good looking avatars.... honest
But, I've noticed that women that use provocative pics, seem to get picked for more "best answers" whether their answers were good or not, or even sensible.
Go figure..... lol....
Have a great day......

Fortunately most of you recognize my name, since Yahoo can't seem to fix things so I have a face. And yes, I think the avatars do "distort" our impressions of others. Often they "sound" a young as they look and I know many are older and wiser.

I have a regular "human" avatar, but I never use it. I would rather use a picture of my dear little dog. I do get a lot of compliments about her. Sometimes when I get best answer, a person will thank me by saying "Thanks, little pup!", or something like that. She passed away last summer, and I miss her so much. I like seeing her happy little face here everyday.

Avatars make no difference to me. There are probably some weird people that pay attention to them. I don't like the pornographic ones but they are few a far between. I know that most of them don't look like the owner of them anyway

I believe an avatar is important
because it represents you.
On "Answers" all the avatars
look alike because they are
all Yahoo Avatars. Some are
uploaded but very few.
