I turn on the t.v and I see the likes of Posh Spice, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera etc. I walk outside and I see a walking barrage of gross yellow hair. They are fooling no one and many don't even bother to do a decent job of upkeep. I know many women like to experiment with different styles and colors , more power to them. I just want to get to the bottom of why it has to be blonde? I also think it sends a horrible message to young girls who are brunettes or redheads. It implies that they are somehow not worthy, unless they are blonde. What do you think???

I AGREE! And some take it WAY too far. I've seen girls with hair so bleached that it was FLOURESCENT! And I totally agree with it giving a bad message to younger girls. It really is sad.

I can't stand the fake blonde look. At least with fake red, or fake brunette, you're trying to be perceived as something other than a tart.
Basically women who bleach their hair out do so because they want to look like a playboy model (which they usually don't). They want be a fantasy girl for men, rather than trying to make unique statement about themselves. And they never even realize how fake and tacky it looks.
By the way, I think the blond fascination started with Marylin Monroe. It actually worked on her, but more often than not it looks like a disaster on women. It DOES draw mens attention though. No matter how unattractive a woman is, she gets more attention as a blonde. I just think there's more to life.

What a powerful statement about the insecure girls who think they are only worthy of dating if they change everything about themselves.
It's insecurity. They have no clue how bad they look. They will in ten years, when they look back on themselves (hopefully).
Blonde hair and blue eyes are popular in women because it has been proven men prefer blondes. It goes back to men being insecure if they aren't the "first" for a girl. Most girls are born with fine blonde hair and blue-eyes. It, therefore, can be an indicator of age...and therefore experience. Women shave their legs for the same reason. It's a subconscious thing, but it's still true. Men prefer women who look inexperienced.
Problems arise when brunettes as dark as I am try to go blonde and buy blue contact lenses. Then pile on layers of makeup, manicured nails and high heels...(Dolly Parton comes to mind)...and you have a high-maintenance insecure woman who has to marry a man rich enough to keep her supplied with all the material things she wants. She has to get plastic surgery to remain as "beautiful" as they day they married. Shallowness begets shallowness.

i completely agree with you!!!
i am naturally a brunette although i have a bit of red/blonde in my hair also...but i bleached my hair blonde at one point for a few years...
i FINALLY learned to love myself for myself and to not wear all the makeup nor to bleach out my hair etc.xD
although i still love dressing well.

Yes I think when people try to be something they're not it sends a bad message. Though its not just blondes, they're dying their hair brown as well.

For some strange reason people think that blondes are sexier or that they get more dates or that they have more fun or that they get laid more often. None of this is, of course, true. I think dyed blonde hair looks awful.

It's not just you, it's me too. And I also think it's sending a bad message to younger girls too! I'm really proud of my hair color and plan to keep it that way! Have you seen those "asian blondes" before? I think they look ridiculous! I'm Chinese and I feel offended whenever I see another asian, usually Chinese girls, with "blonde" hair. It just bothers me! Agh. Be happy with what you have!
