I have been with my fiance for 5 years, he is a gentle romantic person who i have never had a trust issue with. A friend from school came to town and they went to the clubs, his "friend" spiked his drink and my fiance was already very drunk. This friend was also to be the best man in our wedding! The friend drove my fiance to another girls house and they came close to having sex. My fiance hates himself and i dont think he will ever forgive himself... he wants to go to counselling and everything. I know the type of person he really is but i am hurting... is it ok to give him a second chance.
Ps Other mutual friends said that on the night he was heavily influenced by the so called friend and they believe he didnt know what he was doing. His family is scared he will do something to himself because he is so disgusted in himself

pps- it was drugs he was spiked with ...stupid considering fiance on anti-dep's. he made me go with him to the girls house so he could tell her that she was nothing more than a mistake and that i am the love of his life... he also called the "friend" and told him he never wants to speak to him again and told him that if he was a good friend he wouldnt have let that happen.

his friend is the type of person to do that considering he was declaring his love for me at our engagement party.

Wow, 5 yrs your fiancee? I think I would seriously doubt his commitment level, a very long time to be engaged and never married. As for the supposed "friend" I would be giving him a piece of my mind. You poor girl what the hell have you done to the friend to cause him to drive your boyfriend to another womans house? he's some friend, gee. If there were other mutual friends there why wouldn't they contact you when things got out of control? (great friends they are too). What kind of friend is still able to drive but gets his friend plastered enough, then drives him to somewhere to get him in trouble, while he is still sober??? sounds very sus to me! I wouldn't trust any of them!

Really, what sort of friend spikes someone's drink to start with? Are you sure that's what happened, or did he take something of his own accord? Apart from that, he has a commitment to you and that/his behaviour shouldn't be able to be so easily influenced by someone else. There comes a point when people have to take responsibility for their own actions, and blaming it on alcohol/other substances/other people is simply passing the buck.
Having said that though, I don't know you or him, so ultimately it is up to you. I don't think you'd be asking the question if you didn't have serious doubts though.
Good luck.

I think you should get out and be glad your weren't already married. Definetely don't base your decision on the fact he may do something to himself-that is his way of forcing you to stay.

If you are having to get counseling before the marriage/kids imagine how hard it will be later.

Dear, please give him a second chance. A guy who feels bothered by his lusty actions to another woman shows how much he is devoted and love you. You have to be able to forgive and help him even if it is the hardest thing to do. A relationship of five years cant be done away with. Congratulations!

Instead of counselling, send him to AA meetings so hopefully he won't drink anymore.
