So here I am 39 weeks pregnant, waiting for my first baby to arrive. I got to thinking.... after your water breaks (assuming its before you go into labor) does your stomach feel different from the outside?

Don't you think it would?? I mean you read things on how to tell if your water broke... i don't know.

Just curious.

Not really. You don't lose that much fluid and it's the baby and placenta that are taking up most of the space.

After my waters broke my contractions got more intense, though.

No your belly still feels the same, but your pants and anything your sitting on or standing on is SOAKED!!! My water dribbled out slowly with my first right before my contractions started and Then it BURST with my second one on the way to the hospital in the car-thank goodness my husband put down like 7 folded towels- and that happened after I was already in hard labor. So, Good Luck!

your stomach dosent feel any different on the outside. what makes it feel different is the contractions. it will get very hard. that way you know if your water is broken is it kinda feels like you wet yourself. my water didnt brake all on its own. I had a leak and didnt really know I thought that i couldnt control my bladder it was just a ltille bit at a time. when I called my doc they had me come in and there is a test that they can do to tell. hope this helps

my water broke before i went into labor with my first son. i wasn't sure it was anything at all. i actually thought that the baby had squeezed my bladder or something.....lol. it was just a clear liquid that ran down my legs slowly. it didn't happen anything like in the movies. it's not something that explodes or causes a lot of pain. it just happens and you won't lose that much fluid to notice it in your abdominal region. hope this helps.

Generally, no. You don't lose enough fluid to cause a noticable change in your stomach. The only thing you feel is the trickle (or gush) of fluid, and if you're in labor and contracting, usually your contractions become stronger after you're ruptured, because your uterus can contract harder with less resistance from less fluid.
