I'll summarize:
Fundraising results this year-
Clinton-$80 million
Obama-$79 million

Romney-$35 million
Giuliani-$33.5 million

Those are the top two candidates of each party. So, what's going on here? What's with the turnaround?

It's a good question and I think the answer lies with 3 potential causes.

1) Early Campaign Starts - The Democrats started earlier in their efforts than most of the Republicans.
2) Demographics -
Clinton is benefiting from name recognition and contributors who still believe they are getting Bill back.
Obama is really the first serious black candidate for the office.
3) Belief in victory - In can be no secret that the American public is disenchanted with the Republicans at this point in history and many do believe that the Democrats have a good shot at winning the White House in the next election.

No matter the cause it is way too early to count the Republicans out and frankly I think we should all be appalled at the amount of money which is being spent in general by all candidates.

People are FINALLY realizing that the Republican party is full of lying, cheating, greedy, power hungry, male chauvinist pigs, who are still stuck on the whole Clinton sex scandal, and still using it, and 9/11, as an excuse against electing anyone who is not a conservative christian right wing person. They continue to consider any other party as sub-human and with no intelligence, and let us not forget lazy, and want to live off of the Government for our entire lives. And some of the people I speak of are Republicans who are now embarrassed to be affiliated with their own party, because of the last 8 years of the Bush debacle.

The middle class is sick and tired of all of the promises that the tax cuts are supposed to help us, when the only one's who ever seem to benefit are the rich.

Are you better off now than you were 8 years ago? I'm sure not. And I can thank George Bush for that one.

I believe its the result of two changes:

1) The republicans have lost all credibility--and that is discouraging doners. Not many people are going to contribute to a candidate who almost certainly is going to lose.

2) The Democratic candidates--especially Hillary and Obama--are way ahead of the Republicans in tapping into the power of the Internet to raise money, get their message out, and organize grassroots support.

These two factors are reinforced by teh fact that computer-savvy voters still are relatively young and well educated on average--and these same people are more likely to be liberal-minded.

How long have you been away??! People see all the money they give to Republicans these days- going to support Bush & his War. NEITHER of which is very popular. Americans may not be very Bright, but they're still smart enough NOT to finance Losing Causes. Most of the Republican candidates who WIN their Elections next year- will be running for the Office of "Dogcatchers" & their Campaigns financed by their Mothers. It's gonna be an AWESOME year for Democrats. :)

There is a power shift every 8 years. Once the public is sick of one party they go with the other. Sure would like to see an independent president this time around

People want to back a winner. No one is betting that the Republicans are going to win this time around.

Reps are waiting to find out who is actually going to be the front runner, then dump their money on him. Dems are over eager, wasting their money on the prelims and splitting their party.
