i have to do a science project and i think the correct answer is hot, but when i did it the room temperatures flowed faster and further on the plate then the hot. can someone tell em what is the correct answer?

Do your experiment over a couple of more times and record your results each time. You will draw your conclusion from your results. This is the nature of science. You're interested in how fast the ketchup flowed, not in how much of the plate in covered. Make sure to explain your experiment and how you arrived at your conclusion. In science it's important to show the work.

hot because the energy and the substance spread out...its like a ICE cube, what happens when it melts....when the substance is colder it becomes smaller...making is only harder and harder to flow or increase in size
