This past month, my girlfriend and I had been fooling around (no intercourse!) and got a scared feeling when we thought about accidental exchange of fluids (my semen). So, the next morning, she took 2 birth control pills (ortho). Since then, she has been feeling (and looking) bloated in her lower stomach. She had light brown discharge earlier this month (we figured it was break-thru bleeding from pill) and random bleeding throughout the rest of the month. She should have started her period two days ago and in these past days that she should have had the period, she has been getting cramps and stomach aches, but no bleeding. We had a scare like this last month, but the period came on time. We are both very worried about this month because of it being late and the symptoms she's feeling. What could this all be? Does it sound like it's her body adjusting to the birth control pills she took (4 in the past 2 months)? Could she be pregnant? When should we expect her period?

thank you alot

If the thought of pregnancy scares you then consider abstinence.

No birth control method, even when used perfectly, is 100% effective. There's always a chance the two of you could become parents.

If she's only taking 4 pills in the last 2 months, no wonder she's having problems. You take them everyday, preferably around the same time. If she's used 4 different kinds in the past 2 months, she's gonna hurt herself.
birth control pills can cause weight gain. It's a fact of life. The pills confuse the body to make it think it's already pregnant, so it doesn't get pregnant.
If she doesn't know how to take her pills, or she thinks she took them wrong, please get her to a doctor, b/f she hurts herself. Maybe she should see a doctor anyway.

Two things:

1) if you didn't have sex, you're not pregnant
2) take a test. For real. Hide it if you have to. its the easiest way to find out. All the symptoms in the world could be there and she may not be pregnant, and sometimes... there are not symptoms when you are. Take a test. the cheap ones work just as well as the $20 ones.

For real... oh and don't take it too much before her period. I took mine 2 days before my period and it was negative when i was actually 2 weeks pregnant... and it was a $26 pregnancy test.

So.. hope this helps! goodluck!

The odds of pregnancy without penetration from intercourse are extremely low. It's probably the stress from fear of pregnancy that's making her late, along with the fact that she's been taking random pills (which is not effective for birth control).

And if you're both that freaked out at the prospect of pregnancy, perhaps you should be a little more responsible with your sexual behavior and get her on some regular birth control that she takes DAILY - not just after a "whoops" incident. How she's been taking it is totally irresponsible and asking for an unintended pregnancy.
