Some have expressed concern that he would get made fun of in school.
He's not shy at all and is a good student- he has no reason to be made fun of, and never has been made fun of.

just me- Satch is 9 yrs old, and he doesn't see any problem with his name. Nobody's teased him about it, so he is okay with it.

it would never be mispelled!
I'm quite fond of it - I like unusual interesting names - whenever I think of baby names or such I remember an episode of the simpsons (doesnt everyone have one of those!) where marge is giving homer a bunch of baby names and each name he comes up with some nasty response by school children - but when he gets the bart he finds nothing wrong with it.
"Different" names are becoming very common... and if kids want to be mean -they will - no matter if his names andrew or bill.
I used to get picked on for my name -(my nickname is reeks not for my smell obviously) arika, i would be called gold rush (not very nasty i know!) because of eureka stockade... it wasn't very mean but most bullies aren't very smart anyway.
i'd also get paprika - sounds silly to me now though but it annoyed me.
So back to the original question - I think it's a great name - I picture a young, intelligent, kind succesful man when he grows up.

Sounds like the name was derived by someone who partakes in weed, at least where I am from a bag of green is called a satchel. Also sounds Native American.
It's still a nice name, just gives an *impression* if you know what I mean.

Name: SATCHEL
Meaning: Bag
Origin: American
I think it's a nice enough name, but it is odd that the parents would name their child after a bag. I have seen it in my classroom on several occasions though and kids don't make fun of the name. So, it's not a new concept for a name. Normally associated with white kids.

It's one of the worst names i've ever heard, especially since it's for a boy. But at least it's not Satchelle.

A satchel reminds me of a bad. I don't like this name at all.

A lot of names now are very creative like Satchel. I like it but I think he might get teased for it in school.

Why on earth would you need such a name? I don't think I have ever had a conversation where the need for such a name ever came up...after I became an adult, anyway. If you are an adult...just say "Scrotum" and be done with it. People will understand what you mean a lot easier if you just use the proper names for things and skip the slang.
