My dad says it sad. Unless I am going to flirt with some one at the consession stand. It is just all my friends are busy right now and I am the only one I know that wants to see a certain type of moive.

No - are you going to watch a movie or to hang out with your friends? It's not "sad" at all, it just means you want to enjoy the movie without friends distracting you.

Go for it. I do once in a while.
Or better yet, take your father, make him be your date and have fun with him. Make him buy dinner, popcorn and all the other stuff then at the end of the night, give him a peck on the cheek and say thank you for a wonderful evening.

There nothing wrong with going to the movies by yourself, but I suppose you could make your Dad take you to the movies, but he probably wouldn't like it (and he'd wish that he had just let you go by yourself !).
