You're still missing the proper codec, I would guess. I would suggest to try and play it in GOM Player because it's smart enough to tell you exactly what codec you're missing and take you to a download page.

edit: everyone that suggested VLC didn't actually read the question.

Basically, all data on your computer is just ones and zeros. Software called codecs (coder/decoder) are used to tell your computer how to convert these ones and zeros into watchable video.

Your problem is that the .avi files you're trying to watch are encoded in a way that your computer doesn't understand.

There are two ways to solve this:

1) Download the DivX and XviD codecs. Their files are named .avi and not having the codec installed does what you describe - audio but no video.

2) Use VLC Player instead. It has many codecs built in, and can play DivX and XviD files.

You need to download a codec. Click on the red x beside the file name when it's playing on WMP. Then you'll be given the option to download the appropriate codec. The one you have is probably the wrong one. Try a different one. That's how it works on Vista anyway.

probably a codec issue - likely that you need to load a DIVX player. do a google search - most are free downloads.
