ChiGuy, you mean up until now you thought "neo-cons" were credible? I am sure this affected you not at all, and it certainly dosn't change my views...in other words it's a lib tempest in a teapot.
Edit--and there you go again with the "neo" thing...what does being "neo-conservative" (if you were even capable of defining the term) have to do with anything?

No, because there are sensible conservatives who realize that Rush stretches and spins (I'm not talking exercise program). For the die-hard Rush-bots, I can only hope that he's had a lens installed in his navel so they don't bump into stuff while they're Rush-butt-snorkeling.

Chi Guy .... I've requested before you give some definition of neo-con ... at least link us to one you accept.
You keep addressing these people...and often it seems you are addressing people like me...but I don't know?
What is a neo-con??????
As to your question...I haven't followed any of it...but what I think I garnered was: There was some guy who bailed on the military, having never been deployed...and was claiming to have have served in Iraq or Afghanistan. Is this the gist?
If so... "phony soldier" seems an apt description

No, because the entire story was made out (by the Rush-fearing left) to be something it wasn't. They took the story WAY out of context, and now have stepped in it as they usually do.
ADDED: Now that the 'soldier" has been outed and sentenced, it kind of makes your question a moot point.

No, just people like you are too gullible to know when they are being lied to.
Rush specifically mentioned Jesse Macbeth, a man who servied a whopping 44 days in the army. A man who never set foot in Iraq, nor saw combat. Yet this man said he was an army ranger, won a purple heart, and saw atrocities being committed.
If people like you are too stupid to understand that that is who Rush mentioned specifically when he was talking about "phoney soldiers," then you are too stupid to be saved.

Rush is right about this phony, do you defend this liar who has been proved to be lying about serving his country and what he did during that time? I don't understand why you guys don't see that Harry Reed is your real enemy, the one that discredits the real soldiers!

I think that accolade can be reasonably assigned to the Democrats for their slanderous support of the attacks on our military.
