The rich get richer because they keep making the same life decisions they did to get rich. The poor stay poor because they keep making the same life decisions that keeps them poor. There are plenty of stories of poor folks who won the lottery and a few years later they are poor again. The poor I know spend their spare cash on lottery tickets, cigarettes, alcohol and/or gambling. They dropped out of school early. Overall they have a poor work ethic which prevents them from keeping a job or getting ahead. It does not take money to make money, there are plenty of enterprises that started on a shoestring.
And people aren't inheriting their money, they're working for, saving, and investing it. People become millionaires every day, more in America than any other country. How can poor people be stupid enough to believe democrats who tell them it's not their fault they're poor?

Ah, Brian, sorry to hear you think a bachelor's degree should automatically make you rich, sounds like you have no clue. I don't have one and am worth north of 7 figures, although I don't consider myself rich. I still have to work, save, and invest, which is why, well, you get the picture.
BTW, my parents were poor.

tangerine, your answer shows you are determined to avoid the facts. Many poor people who come into money become poor again. The rich invest their money, poor people spend it. Most do not inherit their money, they make it.
And for those idiots who think a college education is required or that it should guarantee wealth, your are ignorance is out in plain view. I know plenty of people, including myself, who made it because of determination, a work ethic, and perseverence. Luck has little to do with it. It's no wonder most union workers are democrats, they think something is owed to them.

The poor aren't victims! And the rich aren't all born into rich families that is ridiculous! There are more self made millionaires(including myself) in America than anywhere else by far!
Of course the poor want socialism. Lazy me generation people want everything for free and don't want to do anything for themselves.

I'm sure they wake up every morning and remember they weren't born to rich parents.
They're poor because the government keeps creating programs to "help" these people, which continue to eat away at their small salaries through taxes, since previously created programs which aren't working are not eliminated, in the process.
They're also at times poor because some refuse to get a second job to make ends meet, or to have extra money once the bills are paid.

I once saw a program on tv in which a financial expert tried to show people why they were making terrible economic mistakes in their lives.
A woman who made very little money started every day with a cup of coffee and a scone (or two) at Starbucks. At lunch she went out for food. She claimed she was too rushed to cook much at home, so dinner was carry out or a restaurant.
This woman had no idea how much she was spending on food. It just didn't occur to her than food should only account for a certain percentage of someone's income.
Another guy was a pack-rat. He had so many things he rented a (very expensive) storage unit. The financial expert had to prove to him that in two years time, he could buy all the things he was storing just for the price of storage rental.
Well, you get the idea. People just don't pay attention to money.
Rich people often got into their position by not squandering money. Rich people are often the "cheapest" (most frugal) people I know. I had an aunt who was quite wealthy, and she would coupon shop at the grocery store to an extent that would have made you laugh.
Look at those supposed "poor victims" of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. By watching the video clips, you can see most of the women have expensive hairdos and sculpted nails. Salons aren't cheap, so they are spending at least $100 a month on this. Add to this cable tv, multiple mobile phones, DSL, cigarettes, alcohol, etc. and you can see where the money goes. And yet these people claimed they were too poor to afford a cheap bus ticket out of town. Gimme a break.
Poor people want to believe it's not their fault. They love hearing that someone else is responsible for their misfortune.

That's assuming a lot. Many of the poor know exactly why they're poor, and are working to change it. Some things take time. Others have no idea.
Many of the rich are rich because they inherited fortunes, and have talented people on staff to manage their money. It can grow with no effort on their part at all. Others have been exeedingly smart, or fortunate, or both.
It's never a good idea to assume that any large group of people would ever make the same choice, or have the same thought.

Or maybe the rich keep getting richer because they were born into rich families that already had a safe little nest egg and the poor haven't had the same opportunities as the rich.
Stop trying to blame the victim!

So insult the poor and the democrats with brash and wrong generalizations?
Come back to reality please.
So you don't like democrats and the 'poor'. So what. But calling them all lazy and ignorant along with democrats is wrong and silly.

well... if they don't have a clue why they are poor... which as you illustrate... they don't...
then it's not exactly their "fault"... they have just never been educated... and many never had the opportunity to be educated...
a few are lucky enough/smart enough to figure it out on their own... the vast majority don't...
maybe it's time to "teach a man how to fish?"

It's because Democrats tell them that they will support them with our tax money, if they don't want to work.
That's where Democrats come from.

They are poor because they make poor life choices.
They choose to have children they can't afford, not get a higher education, and refuse to work hard to get what they want. They are content with being BOUGHT & PAID FOR by the Democrats for their vote.
