What is the unit? There are various conversion factors depending on what units you are using.
You can also find many conversion sites on the Internet by searching "convert __ __" using the units in the blanks, of course.

It all depends on which unit you're using. There's no universal rule. For example, when it comes to measuring length, 1 inch is 2.54 centimeters (officially speaking), but when it comes to weight, 1 pound is 0.45359 kilograms. Likewise you have different units for dealing with other types of measurements, like volume, area, force, energy, etc.
In general though, what you want to do is 1) find a conversion factor, and 2) multiply or divide by it appropriately.

The easiest conversion is from inches to centimeters. There are 2.54 centimeters in an inch. If you can convert you measurement to either one of those, you should be able to cross over from the metric system to the english system.
