Salt (NaCl) Potassium Chloride.

Halite is the mineral name for salt. Usually mined. Can be evaporated from the sea. Has to be purified before it is food grade. Can be associated with Calcium Chloride (CaCl).

Do a little research and you will find it.

Edit 1 - Yeah I know, I had my stupid hat on tonight. I had the symbol right, but the wrong chemical term. Na is Sodium, not Potassium. Though technically KCl, Potassium Chloride aka Sylvite, is a salt, its just not Halite.

A more common name for Halite is rock salt. It has an isometric crystal, a cleavage of {001} perfect, a transparent luster, a hardness of 2.5, and a specific gravity of 2.16. It is diathermanous and has a refractive index of 1.544. It is formed as an evaporite and is mined extensively throughout the world. (Its not just sea salt.)

Halite is the name for the mineral that forms when salt precipitates out of liquid water that has become oversaturated. You might otherwise know it as "rock salt". It is usually considered to be distinct from "sea salt". Sea salt is an evaporite, halite is a precipitate.

Halite, because of the nature of its formation, is a solid rock crystal, and can be very chemically pure. Sea salt, on the other hand, is a crumbly, granulated cake. It exists as a mixture of salt and all the other minerals that were left behind by the evaporating water.

Tom-PG is wrong!
Na-Cl is known as Sodium Chloride... NOT Potassium-Cl

Halite is the mineral name for common sea salt.

I think that Tom-PG needs to look at his periodic table
