The ones where you actually throw dice or spin a wheel. They use to be fun --- I think. Most questions I see under board games are about computer games, so I just wondered. :)

A group of us play board games all the time. The past few years (10 or so) the best board games have been coming out of Germany. Google German Board games and take a look at some. Settlers of Catan is very good, I tend to like a railroad game called Iron Dragon.

I am a board game collector and I have around 300 board games and around 100 card/dice type of games. I play about 4 games a month with monopolies being the most popular. The latest monopoly game I have is Union Pacific, and the latest dice game I purchased at a flea market is Skunk. My whole family loves that game.

Board games are in fact bigger then ever. It's just a kind of thing that does not come into pop like Video Games do.

The main place doing the big name games right now is Fantasy Flight Games (www.fantasyflightgames.com). They make most of the Big Box games out right now (World of Warcraft, Descent: Journeys in the Dark (great game), As well as the Starcraft Board game coming out soon). There are a few other smaller places out there as well still making new stuff.

But a lot of stuff comes from Germany as well as Board gaming is HUGE overthere still.

I think people rely on Yahoo to come up with a category for them and don't pay much attention to where the question is going; hence all the non board game questions under boardgames.

Boardgames are doing better than ever! There's been a huge surge of interest in boardgames due to the success of various German import games with a lot more strategy and accessibility than many classic games.

Personally I go to potluck and boardgame days about three times between two different groups in my area. I probably play 60-70 games per month on average.

Check out www.boardgamegeek.com for lots of great stuff about boardgames!

I love to play the classic board games, and when ever I try to get my family to play with me they don't ever want to.

Some of the new versions of games are becoming rediculous. The new monopaly with out the money! Where is the fun in that?

Yes, I play board games all the time with my friends and family! I play Monopoly, 2 German games you may not know, (Carcarsonne, Siedler), Yahtzee and Scrabble and many lesser known ones such as Skeleton in the Cupboard and Rat Race.

I'm surpised people have stopped playing them, but then again it makes sense with XBox's and PS3's of today.

I not only play Scrabble in a weekly club meeting, I am the director for the local club. Playing Scrabble across from another person is definitely a lot more fun than playing on-line is.

If you are interested in board games, the site I would recommend to you is boardgamegeek.com. It has reviews, discussions, suggestions, and resources for board games from Scrabble to Arkham Horror, and everything in between. Board games are alive and well. :)

My family is trying to get into the habit. Don't play as much as I would like, but I'm not giving up yet. Playing games as a child is still one of my best memory's, and I want my kids to have those same happy experiences.

I love a good ole fashioned board game every now and again. It's sure not like it used to be though!
