Absolutely not, unless you REALLY know what you're doing and have experience. Besides, why breed? There's so many animals out there right now in need of homes and being euthanized in shelters/vet offices every day, why do we need yet more brought into the world? You're better of trying to help rescue animals and find them loving, permanent homes.

More often than not, you basically have a choice: You can breed animals to be rich, or breed them because you love them. It's difficult to do both. The people who genuinely care about animals will devote a lot of time and money on research and finding the best breeding stock possible. The people who are in it for the money are often people who run puppy mills and similar kind of things, who breed for quantity instead of quality. I suppose if you breed more exotic animals you might be able to make a bit more, but it's unlikely there are many that will give you a significant profit.
If you want to be both rich and breed animals, you'll be better off getting a good job, and breeding in your spare time. Please don't even consider breeding unless you are thoroughly aware of everything involved with breed standards, conformation, health issues, pregnancy, etc. The last thing we need in the world is more breeders who don't know what they're doing. The animal shelters are already overflowing.

Chances are, probably not. It is definitely not the type of career to go into hoping to strike it rich. It costs a lot of money to properly breed any type of animal, so the revenue really isn't as much as people think. Sure you can buy a puppy for two grand...but in the long run, those breeders are not secretly becoming millionaires.
Hope this helps!

hello as an experienced breeder i have to say you can make good money but you wont be rich. you have to set your prices with how much veternarian care your animals are going to need during gestation (pregnancy) after wards the care of the litter until sold.the food the bedding the shots the medications. also you have to put money back because sometimes genetic defects can appear that wasnt previously detected and that can run into thousands of dollars and after a few litters your animals will be too old to breed what are you going to do to care for your older animals? you cant just dispose them to go get younger ones just to breed them.. you have to space between having litters and sometimes things go wrong with the litters in mommies tummy. there can be miscarried animals that stay in mommies tummy some are born alive some are not and those that were not can cause infections inside of mommy then mommy needs extensive veternarian care after wards.. theres alot to think about. mother nature doesnt always take care of itself...

Successful as in rich? Hell no. This is not a job to go in to if you want money - it's HARD hard work, and potentially costs more money than it earns. It's supposed to be a hobby for animal lovers, not a way of becoming 'successful'. The way you phrased the question instinctively made me think this is not the path for you.

Breed ,if you understand everything that comes along with breeding. Do not breed if you do not have the understanding of doing this. You need to think about every individual who comes to your home to purchase these animals. You do not know these people or how they will treat these animals. This entails alot of responsibility.

lol. You're kidding, right?
First of all, you have to buy breeding stock. That's not cheap. You have to pay for kennels, food, vet care, vaccinations, shipping, advertising....I could go on and on. If you want to get rich, find another profession. Breeding animals is labor-intensive and expensive.

Now you're just being silly. Breeding costs a lot of money, and people do it because they want to improve the breed, not because they want to make money.
