3-4 hours. Getting out of Vegas is nothing it is getting into LA that is the problem. 1/2 the trip is desert and boring; We left Vegas at around 9 am and got to LA by lunch and spent the day there leaving around 11ish and we were back in Vegas by 3.

I've done it in 4 1/2 to 5 hours on a weekend. I knew someone who could do it in 3. (I don't know how his landing was. LOL) Traffic can be HEINOUS the closer to LA you get - we crawled the last 90 minutes of the drive - and it was only about 40 miles or so. If you leave at an off-peak time, it might be less time.

DO NOT listen to the folks saying 3-4 hours. It DOES take a good 4 1/2 hours! And take heed of the answer that warned of driving during rush hour time in LA- it's a killer! Now, go have fun!

Generally it takes 4.5 hours from Vegas to LA. Of course it means barring any traffic problems along the way and which route you take to get there. It also depends on how much of a maniac you are on the road. Careful as the police are always on the hunt.

It depends, if you just walk the strip itself, I think the estimates here sound about right. But one of the things that surprised me about the Vegas strip was how far the casinos are back from the strip when walking. Which makes sense because of how big they all are. Some of them have moving sidewalks though to help get you from the strip/street into the casino, but if you plan to hit each one on your walk it could be an all day event. I walked from MGM Grand to the Las Vegas Hilton, stopping in at several casinos along the way, and it took a good part of a day (stopping for lunch too). It was too hot and I was too tired to walk back, but it was pretty easy to get a cab at the Hilton to head back to my hotel. Which would be true of any place you walked to, so you might want to walk as far as you can and cab it back.

The drive from Las Vegas to the heart of Los Angeles will take you approx 4.5-5 hours.
Most people try to drive late at night since the traffic patterns can be unforgiving and slow.
Try to avoid arriving in Los Angeles during peak traffic

Six hours including a gas tank refill. Go any faster and you will get pulled over. I suggest you leave before sunrise to avoid the LA rush hour traffic.

it takes about 4 1/2 hours but when you get closer to LA the traffic will really get to you since it gets pretty crowded...but if you're in LA after 9 in the morning then you're fine since it's past the morning rush hours
