I'm buying a new hard drive for my laptop soon. My question is, will this pose any risk to the power supply?

It's an upgrade rather than a replacement.

I've got this one: http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/4k120/4k120.htm

maximum Laptops from before 2007 have basically an customary ata connection and a 2.5 inch length (desctops have 3.5 inch)(I pots a million.8 inch) so do away with your force and if it has approximately 40 little connection and one 4 pin potential plug then that's a 2.5 inch ata or pata device so then look up for a sparkling one terrific products are WD then Toshiba and Samsung.

Nope as long as it is coming from the same manufacturer it should do nothing and in some cases increase performance of the battery as well.
