At 5 PM on 15 December 1967, the Silver Bridge near Point Pleasant, West Virginia, fell into the Ohio River, causing the death of about 43 persons (who had been in cars in a traffic jam on the bridge). After that, the mothman was never seen in the area again. Do you think there is a connection?

John Keel wrote a fairly good book concerning Mothman sightings in Point Pleasant. The movie was based very loosely on the Keel's book. Yes, there is a very definite connection, as is pointed out in both the movie and the book.
