is he content when you carry him around? my daughter spent a lot of time in my arms or in a baby sling and she was content...she's 20months now and she's very independent, sleeps in her own crib, etc...she just wanted a lot of attention when she was small!
it could also be gas...try putting him on your lap, face down and patting his back...or try rubbing his tummy in an upwards motion with your left hand and in a downward motion with your right...if he's gassy he'll start pooting :-)

It might be colic. It's characterized by crying for more than 3 hours a day, 3 days a week, for 3 weeks or more.
The cause is unknown, but the child can be very well cared for and still cry uncontrollably.

Once a baby is over 8 lbs the crying should lessen. Rocking,
holding is just part of nurturing. When does he cry, when laid
down? Try a front pack.
First above all contact your doctor. A forumla change
often will change your and your baby's life. Many more baby's
are lactose intolerate that one believed. pipercub

Are you:
Burping your child after every feeding
Carrying your son around
Showing him things to keep him interested
When you say everything, do you really mean everything? Some babies need more attention than others. I can't count the number of days I spend a solid 6 hours carrying my daughter around, bouncing her, and showing her and talking to her about every item in the house to keep her interested.
If you truly have tried everything, I'd suggest taking the child in to the doctor and talking to him/her about it.

I dont know why, but try keeping him in a sling on you during the day, you may find that helps, you can still do most things when hes in a sling.

don't worry it is nothing wrong with him people fail to realize that babies are very uncomftorable outside the mothers womb that's why they cry alot but it will get better when he is like 3 months old.

Sounds like colic. Which is bad gas. Check with your doctor to see if it is safe to give him gas medicine to relieve him.
