I was talking to my mother today when I was watching ellen with her and she said "I like ellen but just knowing that she goes home and gets in the bed with another women makes me not be able to like her as much I would if she was straight"
that made me really mad because I see nothing wrong with ellen and gay do not gross me out at all, maybe because I am gay and I don't understand some people find it gross that two men or women have sex and mom said that it was worse for two women or men to have sex then it would be for a man and women to have sex that are not married and do not agree with her! what are you all's opionion on this?

I think it's because if you are not gay, you can't even begin to imagine being with another man/women. The thought just grosses you out.

I know it's not a good reason, but it would be like me telling you to go be with a girl. Does that give you the willies? It might, and that's the same reaction your mom has with Ellen.

I myself don't have a problem either way. Live and let live!

I feel people should be allowed to do what they want to do behind closed doors as long as it doesn't cause others harm. I am just not a big fan of all this gay band wagon flag waving activity. If someone tells me their gay, I nod my head and wish them all the happiness life has to offer, but I don't like it when they bounce up and down and attempt to verbally shove it down my throat like its the coolest thing to do.

Hahahaha! I was just sitting with my gay friend talking about this very thing. We are of a generation where gay was not only WRONG - it was CRIMINAL. You could get arrested for being gay back in the 1960's. No kidding. I had a gay friend in high school, so I started out early learning about it - but I can tell you one thing for sure.... Being straight means you never have to have a thought in your head - ever. Being straight means that YOU are reflected in all movies and tv shows. There is (or was) no representation of gay ever. Being straight means that what you are is continually validated - you're just OK. So later when somebody mentions being gay, us straight folks don't have the slightest idea what that means - zip - Nota. And we get MAD - we don't want to be challenged in our utter ignorance. We tend to jump to quick conclusions - Why should gay guys have rights??? Gay is a disease. It's a Choice. (interesting that we say that it's both a "disease" AND a "choice" - which are mutually exclusive). One thing about straight rage is that it doesn't have to make any sense. We ARE the majority - so us straight guys know that there's lots of other straight guys around us to validate our total idiocy and xenophobia. And it's been SO refreshing - over my long life - to see this massive change in our country. Gay guys (and girls) are now accepted as brothers and sisters. Anyway - we do expect this to continue and get better for gays all the time. Ugly religious self-righteousness can only last so long - and finally it falls apart like all hate systems. What's the "f" word? You mean "F*G". You know some of my gay friends wear that badge with pride. It's sort of their Red Badge of Courage. It's their wound made by the stupidity of others.

Gay people are not exactly gross, but they are not comforting either. Homosexuals threaten mankind by their surrounding because a) scientific explanation states that here is a 54% chance of becoming gay if you hang around with gay people A LOT, which might result in most people on earth becoming gay, and if THAT happened, the human species would die out soon, no problem. :(

For the same reason that as a gay guy getting in bed with another woman would gross me out or at the least make me feel uncomfortable

man, your mom is NUTS!
is there anyone who would pass up a chance to share a bed with Portia de rossi?!! shes a fox!
-as for why people who think is gross, that would probably be because they 1.)have no understanding 2.) were brought in a home that felt similar or 3.) have never had the chance to share a bed with Portia de rossi!
Ellen is a lucky girl.
damn lucky.

I think not valuing gay people is gross!
Is your mother not going to be able to love you as much as if you were straight? Is she that confused?
You should talk to someone at your local PFLAG.
They could help your mom and you get along better.

Things that are different scare people. It's good that you dont share the same opinnion as your mother. continue to stand up for what you believe in and dont let other people's thoughts run through your mind.

I love how having a more conservative opinion makes you ignorant. People who don't agree with homosexuality, sex changes, frivolous abortions and incest are all just bigots. If you want to make out with your dad that's natural. Don't listen to all those bigots out there
