I'm doing a report for school on the United Nations, and it's difficult to find information that is easily understood. The UN website is of no help to me, and is too complicated. My teacher doesn't really like us using Wikipedia, and Google searches aren't yeilding much yet. Links to useful sites with good, simple and to the point information would be appreciated.

I need information that includes: Background of the UN, the past and present goals of it, the pros and cons of the United Nations, current events within the last six monthes that concerns it, and the future outlook on the group.

Try the Encarta site. It's usually simpler than others.

I use Wikipedia (link is provided below for the UN entry). It's usually pretty easy to understand. It also has a lot of information on it such as the history of the UN, financing, membership, organizational structure... etc.

But be warned it is a user edited encyclopedia, so the information could possibly be wrong.
