It is OK to wean but they really say it is best to breastfeed for a year. So if you can keep up with it, do continue. It's good for your baby.

For solids, you can give him cooked and mashed veggies like carrots, beans, peas. Once he starts eating those, you can experiment by mixing 2 or more types. Also, try avocado if you have not already. My baby loved it...and you do not have to cook it. Just mash it with a fork.
I also give my baby (9 months old now) chicken and veggies, tofu, rice and lentils. I started rice & lentils at 7 months.

You can...but like others said, you will have to give formula. Beware- your child will start to catch many of the germs you guys carry- at least that is what we found when we weaned our son 10 years ago. Our 13 month old daughter is still nursing.

You don't have to do anything different- just add formula to his diet. The question is really? Is he going to wean happily? Some do not transition so although you may want to, baby may have other ideas.

A toddlers important source of foodstuff for his or her first 3 hundred and sixty 5 days of life ought to come from the two formula or breastmilk. they can't have basically solids, or maybe complete milk at this element in time. the main reason is for the energy and foodstuff.. there is not any volume of foodstuff you'll be able to desire to feed a toddler at this age that could equivalent that of formula or breastmilk. So the respond may well be no.. your toddler could desire to be afflicted by malnutrition in case you are trying this. despite the fact that, you may actually start up solids with the aid of now.. i began mine at 4 months and with the aid of 6 he grew to become into ingesting finger ingredients. he's 11 months now and he would not eat toddler foodstuff anymore, would not choose for it. He nonetheless has a bottle of formula (he weaned at 6 months) each few hours. If for some reason you may no longer have adequate money the formula you may seem into signing up for Wic. I somewhat have information on my weblog approximately it. stable success!

Why do you want to wean? Baby must have breast milk or formula as the majority of their nutrition until 12 months.I am sure you already know this but the AAP recommends breastfeeding until at least 1 year, and the WHO at least 2(I stress at least). So weaning him off of breastfeedin now, you will have to put him on formula till 12 months of age. While formula is not rat poison and will not kill him, breast milk is far superior and if you are able to provide him with it, I strongly encourage you to continue doing so.

It's not recommended - babies still benefit from breastmilk up to age two. It is recommended to continue nursing if at all possible until age 1 at least.
If you HAVE TO wean, you should try an infant formula, not milk. Soy formula or hypoallergenic like Nutramigen is best.

It is ok, but it isn't really advisable. If you do stop breastfeeding then you have to give the baby formula, at least until 12 months. Breastfeeding is best for baby until at least age two it protects them from illness and many vitamin deficiencies.

If the child is younger than two years of age, the child is at increased risk of illness if weaned.

You know... I breastfeed but it's really funny- everytime I click on a question about breastfeeding or weaning it's like no body even reads the other peoples answers they just give a thumbsdown whether it's good or bad because it's not their opinion.
And YES it's fine if you decide to wean him. The foods you are giving him now are already great but if you chose to stop breastfeeding then you would just feed him formula but also the other foods you're already giving him.

Yes, they are a little easier to wean at about nine months.

I wonder why you want to. Wait until he's at least a year, so he can switch to cows milk. Formula is very expensive, and he still needs your milk.

it really depends from one person to the next. i was weaned at 3 weeks old whereas my cousin is 3 y/o and is still not weaned (disgusting). i think you should feed him those little baby foods like gerber?don't do too much, keep with the porridge, because you don't want to crash his diet completely. to wean him breastfeed only in the night, and gradually for shorter and shorter periods. good luck!
