It is self defeating & self fulfilling prophesy !
I hate to see that happening to anybody & will do my darndest to help snap them out of it!
There is a whole industry out there that feeds off people's misery & I'd like to see it starved out of existance !

It depends on the reason for my sadness. If I am merely sad that I didn't get my way, then, no, I dont' indulge myself in an environment of pity. On the other hand, if it is a death in the family, I may sit and watch home movies that force me to cry a bit more than I would have without that push. I think it can be healthy in that instance but just to roll around in self pity is not good for the heart.

i'm not really that kind of person and no, i don't honestly think that watching sad movies and listening to sad songs will be that good for a person. i mean, it depends on who the person is, but speaking in general, no, because watching sad movies or listening to sad songs will just encourage your depression and make you feel worse. during depression, its best to talk to someone or do something you usually like to do to forget about your sadness because what will sad music/sad movies/sad stories/etc do? if you add on, it'll get bigger and worse. if the person is into that, that person can go right on ahead. it's not my decision, it's theirs. i just personally think that making something bigger makes it stronger and making something stronger makes it unbeatable and i don't think you'll want unbeatable depression.

Sometimes. I think that it is good to let yourself be a little sad every once in a while. Then you get over it and move on.

I think it can be perfectly normal for someone to do this, but to CONSTANTLY do this is very unhealthy. Feeling sad is a natural human emotion. However having it as a constant companion is not...

Personally, I do wallow for a little bit, but not for very long. However, when it comes to my friends, I try to lift their spirits so they don't have to wallow in their dispair.
