The "hate us for our freedom" bit never fails to crack me up. Cons are so stupid to believe that garbage.

Wow, so many Bushisms to choose from... this is like a Nonsense Buffet...
"We Fight Them There So We Don't Have to Fight Them Here"- Truly the most illogical statement I've ever heard.
Does it make sense to send all your trained defenders to the other side of the world, DON'T secure the borders and then say, "We are better at security than the Dems"? To drop your troops into a fighting arena where EVERYONE not a soldier looks like they could be a "terrorist", instead of forcing the truly dedicated terrorists to brave our stringent paper-slipper-and-3-oz-fluid-restricted security measures and actually attempt to attack us here? Besides the fact, the "Fort Dix Six" plot, the JFK Fuel line bombing conspiracy, the Birtish carbombs whch never went off, etc, are pretty adequate proof we are STILL having to fight them here. So bring the troops home.
"THEY" hate us for our freedoms? "THEY" aren't the ones taking those freedoms away form us, that's Republicans doing that! I know cuz I was watching! They were scaring people with stories about the Anthrax bomber and watching out for radio controlled airplanes packed with terrorists' explosives, and next thing ya know, they no longer need proof to jail someone, anyone, whether an actual "terrorist" or not.
"We Will Stand Down When They Stand Up" I was in the US Army. I went to Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. I was in Delta Company, 5th Battalion, 3rd Brigade. I was 24 years old and had never fired a weapon (not really) before in my life. I started Basic on December 4, 1984, we broke for 2 weeks for the holidays, and I graduated Basic Training on February 16, 1985. In that 2.5 months, I learned how to shoot, I learned hwo to set claymore mines, how to wear and store my protective mask, in short, I learned everything I needed to know (and that which Uncle Sam deemed necessary I know) about being a soldier in the best trained and equipped Armed Force the world has ever known. It has now been over 4 years and apparently the Iraqi Army is still trying to figure out KP duty, while their elected leaders go on month long vacations while American soldiers are killed at a rate of 3 per day and MAIMED at a rate of 15 per day. Why WOULD they stand up? You can get your HEAD shot off that way! Better the Americans get blown up than us.
And of course, the be-all, end-all of jingoistic phrases NOT carried through on by our beloved Buddy Bush: "I Want Osama bin Laden, dead or alive".

I would suppose the second one; fight them there so we won't fight them here. This does not make any sense, ever. First of all, are we to think that all the terrorists are in Iraq? Second, I say it's all the contrary; fight them there, but don't leave U.S. unprotected, because_were any one of the world's many terror networks intent on doing us harm_we should be completely vigilant and prepared, if not to stop them, to at least save as many lives as possible.

Islam is a religion of peace.
Of course, given the level of discourse and intellect on just this thread alone, I'm sure that there will be quite a few that will agree with that assessment even though it came from Bush.

All of them, along with everything anyone in politics says. I have come to the sad realization that anyone who wants to get into politics is a slime ball. Maybe there are a few, I’ve even known a few, but they got out quickly once they realized what a joke it all was.

My favorites are "Mission Accomplished" while disgracing a flight suit on an aircraft carrier full of honorable men and women.
And "Stay the Course"....whatever the HELL the course is, nobody seems to know...but you cant be lost if you don't know where you are going.

I have been waiting patiently for Republicans and Conservatives to denounce these b.s. talking points, but unfortunately, many embrace them. Many live in fear because of Bush and still idolize the man.

Well, 9/11 would make number 1 true, and since they are the ones trying to destroy the Iraqi democracy, i guess no 2 is also true. And no. 3 would just make common sense.

They are all so ridiculous that it's hard to decide.
The only ones who buy this are the ones that worship our careless president.
I'm glad more people have been coming to their senses every year.
