Br- + MnO4- <--> MnO2 + BrO3- (Basic)
which one is oxidized and which one is reduced? I am so confused with this, so an explanation for this would be much appreciated. thanx!!

For the reactants:
Br oxidation number: -1
Mn oxidation number: +7
For the products:
Br oxidation number: +5
Mn oxidation number: +4
Since Br oxidation number: is increased while Mn oxidation number: is reduced, Br is oxidized and Mn is reduced.
