every gay love story i've seen ends in tragedy. yet in straight love stories the guy gets the girl. well how nice! love is love. nothing wrong with a straight love story. but WHY do they ALL have to be straight love stories. and WHY are straight love stories the only ones that end with a happy ending?

Does really matter if the central motif is homosexuality? There are really four types of storytelling:
Historical
Satire
Comedy
and Tragedy
Most stories revolve around these central characteristics regardless of the sexuality of the characters.

Not all do. Try the gay romantic comedy "Trick" or a newer film called "The Gymnast" - both of which have very optimistic endings.

Do heterosexuals somewhat LOVE one yet another or purely lust for another? If adult males can somewhat love women people, nice, yet while that is purely lust, then that is no longer a stable adequate reason to permit at contemporary marriage.

there was one that didnt end tragically, that movie with madonna in it. The one that she has a baby with her gay best friend...that one ends happily.
