What is the psycho-social relevance of dreams (and dream theories)? I don't know how to answer this question because dreams are a personal, private matter!

I am open minded to all opinions and answers :)

Any absolute regarding dreams is incorrect, because there aren't really absolutes. Some people have really strange dreams that are mostly irrelevant or incoherent. There are patterns and tendencies though.

Often times, our unexpressed emotions come out in our dreams. Things we don't necessarily allow ourselves to feel or to say. For example, I have been really upset with my dad on a very deep level, but our relationship has not allowed me to really communicate that to him, and he's the type of person who wouldn't understand anyway. Coincidentally, I have dreams in which I'm screaming and yelling at him. Another example, I had to give away my pets, and that was so hard for me to do that I don't often think about it. I push it out of my mind during the day so that I can focus. Guess what I dream about?

You may have the full right to say so , but you have to know that the human body is just like a case full of emotions , likes and dislikes . Reality and awareness cannot be avoided . You see them and face them whether willingly or not . As a result there stays this kind of sensation which is not achieved in the world of awareness. So the convenient duration of achieving this is the world of sleep where all you have thought of and hoped will flood and rush in front of you unconsciously through bad or sweet dreams .

Mostly I think that dreams are what you read into them. The creepy ones are where you dream something before it happens.
