I'm glad I'm not the perpetual martyr like my mom.

Raging alcoholism and a horseshoe kidney.

All her other undesirable traits may still show given enough time, like the diabetes or the watermelon gut or, so help me, the bipolar gene (she's not showing it, but her brother and nieces have).

Great, now I'm frightened for my own kids.

I'm religious, but I'm glad I didn't inherit her potentially unhealthy obsession with religion. She didn't really have time to raise me, because she was constantly praying. She often told me that God came first, and that I was the absolute last of her earthly concerns. When I was a little kid, she'd say, "Pray, don't play!" and she never wanted me to go outside, but to stay indoors kneeling and praying at a shrine in our house. She couldn't stand light filtering into the house, and said that the darkness put her in the proper mood for prayer. She rarely cooked, didn't clean, didn't have time for any of that because she was praying. She also felt that sex, even inside marriage, was sinful, and often told me that I was a walking sign of the sexual sin she'd committed with her husband.

Always thought or thinks that somebody's watching her. Can we say P-A-R-A-N-O-I-D! Or misplacing important things like keys, eyeglasses, etc. and blamingothers for moving them.
