I used to work in two factories and a warehouse. In the warehouse situation, I wouldn't wear it at work, because I did wear my first ring, and lost it loading a customer's order in his truck. I felt so guilty that I bought another. At the two factories, it was a safety issue. The ring can get caught up in the machinery and he could lose a finger. I am a 1st Responder also, and I actually had a fellow employee who was a new hire. He chose to wear his ring (he was a newly wed) after I told him to take it off. He ended up getting his hand caught in a press and crushed his hand, and as you can guess, he lost his whole hand. There are men who will not wear their rings so they can seem to be available, but don't think that the ring will be a "keep away" sign to other women. One of my best friends, living in Sacramento, CA stopped wearing his ring because of the opposite: When he wore his ring, he couldn't keep women from approaching him.almost as if they considered it a challenge. It can work both ways, and just because a guy doesn't wear a ring, it doesn't necessarily mean he is trying to have his cake and eat it too.

I have been married for over 18 years and my husband has never worn his wedding ring. He keeps it in the ring box in his dresser. He does not wear his for two reasons 1. he's a tradesman and works with this hands and doesn't want the ring to catch on something or get damaged, 2. he hates jewellery, most times he does not even were a watch. No it's not that they are pretending to be single again it is a personal choice. You do not need to wear a ring to be happily married.

SOme guys have to take them off for their jobs. Like if they are secret agents, or if they work around alot of machines or mechanics. If the ring gets caught on something it could take the ring and the finger with it.

Maybe at one time they did have a ring, but they gained a bit of weight, fingers got bigger and they can't comfortably wear it anymore.

Maybe they are married and yeah they do want to appear single for a quick lay.

Maybey they don't feel it's nessesary for his particular marriage. He knows who his wife is, he's faithful,, and really when it all comes down to it, does the ring make the marriage?

There are alot of reasons. I wear mine 24/7. I've had to take it off in the past (working with machines, safety issue, see above) and I've actually felt naked without it. But I'm in a nice office job now, so I have no reason to take it off.

Some have valid reasons health and safety at work which is understandable but if they're on a night out then yeah it's to pretend they're single but normally there's still a mark where the rings been so it doesn't fool the maturer lady.

It can be. Or it can be another reason. I don't wear my ring on my finger (I wear it on a chain around my neck) because I work around high power. My ring could cause considerable injury. However, even if I could, it is to small now anyway (since I have put on a few pounds since I got married).

My father didn't wear his because it nearly took off his finger when he was throwing a rope from his ship (Navy) to another. Rope ripped the ring off. The ring ended up at the bottom of the Pacific ocean.

Some just don't like rings, some are trying to pretend their single....

you can tell... if a man wears a wedding ring at home, but not in public there will be a line around his finger.... a difference in skin tone and texture. If a man never wears one, then that won't be there.

I never wore a wedding during my second marriage. I wasn't trying to sneaky or deceiving. To me it doesn't make you a husband ,that something a man wants to be. You can wear a ring and still carry yourself as a single man. If a woman asks me if I were married, I told them yes. The ring doesn't keep women away but how a husband carries himself.

No my husband takes it off before he go to work sometimes because paints a house or the in side of a apt or using certain adhesives that will ruin his ring so i rather him take it off than spend another $500-$600 on a new ring :)

some married men dont wear a wedding ring for several reasons. one being it might be part of their religion where they cant wear a wedding band. another instance would be work related. if they work in a plant they might not wear it because scared of getting caught in machinery. then finally you have the slime bags who dont wear their bands because they want to believe their single or make others think that where they can have their cake and eat it too.

Yes sometimes that's a big reason. Unless it's for work, too dangerous to wear on the job, or may ruin... or some type of health issue. I would definitely be looking into why my husband wasn't wearing his ring. Something is brewing.
