Adenosine Diphosphate:

ADP consists of 2 phosphate groups (pyrophosphate group),
the pentose sugar ribose, and the nucleobase adenine.

you need two phosphate groups, a ribose sugar and an adenine group.
of course if you shook all these together in a test tube you wouldnt get adp....

see the reference for a diagram, its actually ATP so just imagine the last phosphate knocked off and a hydroxyl group in its place.
