Red-green colorblindness is governed by a recessive allele found on the X-chromosome.

Females could be normal vision with XB XB or XB Xb.
Females could have colorblindness with Xb Xb.
Males can have normal vision with XB Y.
Males can have colorblindness with Xb Y.

Notice that the Y chromosome does not have this allele.
